Hurray I published my newspaper
Today was a very important day for me. I sent my very first newspaper to print. I should probably start at the beginning. I used to work with a Gentleman (I use the term very loosely) that owns an automotive newspaper. I worked over a year running his paper every day. I sold ads, wrote stories, proof read the complete paper, helped format everything, then sent it to press. I had around ten thousand dollars in sales each month. For the first year he never had a problem paying me my weekly salary and my commission the first of the month. Then one day he comes in the office and tells me that he is no longer going to pay my salary he only wants to pay me commission. Well I do not work for free, but continued getting his paper ready for press. When it came to commission time I gave him a spreadsheet with what I was owed. Not to go into any details, but that day ended my employment with him. I thought about how he tells everyone he mails out 50,000 copies of his paper every month yet only prints 3500. There is not a single car dealer he sends the paper too after he says he sends it to them all. So I decided to do my own automotive publication and really send it to the people I say. I contracted a printing company. Purchased the programs, sent out emails, purchased mailing lists, and so forth. I did the whole paper from the beginning to the end all by myself. I sold my ads, I wrote my stories, and I designed my paper. I feel I truly accomplished something now. Well for now I will keep my fingers crossed and see how things go from here. Why work for someone else if you can do it for yourself. My business web site is almost complete and well I can only pray things go well. For now my fellow bloggers, cross your fingers for me and say a little prayer.
